Brockhampton debuts at N.1 in USA 101k sales

Hip-hop collective Brockhampton bows at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with its fourth studio album, Iridescence. The set, which was released on Sept. 21 via Question Everything/RCA Records, launches with 101,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Sept. 27, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 79,000 were in album sales.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units are comprised of traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Oct. 6-dated chart (where Iridescence debuts at No. 1) will be posted in full on Billboard's websites on Tuesday, Oct. 2.
Of Iridescence’s 101,000 units, most were in album sales: 79,000, as noted above. The remainder was comprised of SEA units (22,000) and TEA units (a negligible figure).

Leona working with Max Martin

Has it been confirmed that Leona has successfully hired Max Martin to work on her new album or singles? She had a big album in 2008, so no surprise that Simon could hire him for Echo back then. But i can't make out from previous posts whether they are referring to the past or NOW. If now, that is really a sign of serious intent for her new album and BIG news.

Russell is the owner of XL Recordings – home to the likes of Adele, The xx, FKA Twigs, Arca, Sigur Ros, Arca, Thom Yorke and Jungle.
Asked about what risks he’d like to see Adele explore on the next album, Russell coyly replied: “She’s already worked that out.”

Avril Lavigne New Album confirmed for this year

Hartwig Masuch has opened up about his vision for BMG during a keynote at the Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA) AGM - the first time a global music CEO has spoken at the event. Speaking to a trade body whose members comprise both physical and digital retail, Masuch had positive words for both sides. He even went so far as to predict a physical revival at a time when CD sales are in decline.
“We think there is potential for growth after plateauing,” said Masuch. “That has to do with redefining the characteristics of physical media. It will be less price sensitive than it has over recent years.”
Of course, BMG’s strategy is based on signing artists who still have a physical music audience. As well as success with Kylie Minogue this year, the company previewed a big Q4 with releases from The Prodigy, Seasick Steve, Cypress Hill, Echo And The Bunnymen, Avril Lavigne, Richard Ashcroft and Boy George & Culture Club.
While other record labels may have looked to more track-based streaming opportunities, BMG has built a roster of established album artists whose careers, at least in some cases, perhaps needed a little more love and attention. We have a presence in every single market that makes us increasingly geared to recorded music. Hartwig said the company had made a “serious effort to reintroduce the relevance of these artists”. “We’ve found out it’s a really sweet spot,” he said.

Selena Gomez To Release New Single Next Month

  • It’s been a long time coming.
While Selena Gomez is enjoying the success of ‘Back To You’ and her stint as an intern for anti-human trafficking non-profit A21, she is ready to drop some new tunes and eventually her third solo studio album.
An insider reveals that the album is done and that we could get the first taste of it as early as next month. ‘She is looking to release a single by October, November the latest. She’s busy with her other projects and heavily involved with A21, but she knows music is way overdue. She is happy with what she’s done.’
Gomez hasn’t released any album material since 2015’s Revival – which came out right before a series of unfortunate events in the singer’s life including her Lupus diagnosis, kidney transplant, tour cancelations, etc.
‘She is excited to share this new music with her fans. She is in such a better place now. I think people will really like what she will put out,’ the source also said.

New Drake dropping in October?

Drake's latest post on Instagram leads many to believe a new project could be on the way.
The photo seems to be the complete image of the "I'm Upset" artwork, revealing a skeleton/white-walker resurrecting from a mountain of ice. The caption is only a winter emoji, perhaps forecasting "winter is coming."
Could he be teasing a new song? Mixtape? Studio album? Lil Wayne is rumored to be dropping Tha Carter V very soon. With two possible major releases from the YMCMB/Republic superstars, could these contribute to a dramatic Q4 marketshare shootout?
OVO Sound just announced a new radio episode on Beats 1 scheduled for 9/15 at 3pm PT. Stay tuned.
