LSD debut album in September

In September, LSD, a supergroup she formed with Diplo and singer-producer Labrinth, will release their debut album. And Sia has also just taken on her most difficult project yet: directing her first feature film, Music, due out sometime next year. It’s a musical that stars 15-year-old Maddie Ziegler, the dancer from the “Chandelier” video, as an autistic child who comes under the care of her sober drug-dealing sister, played by Kate Hudson. It’s about finding your voice and creating your own family, two big themes in Sia’s life. She knows it’s a gamble — a massive undertaking that could be seen as a vanity project, even though it’s a story she desperately wants to tell. Part of her already regrets it. But part of her also feels like she has no choice but to take the risk. “A lot of people in my industry have to do the same things over and over because it’s what people want,” she says. “I’ve tried to work out ways to make this fun and to see what I can get away with, essentially.”

People’s Choice Awards Moves From CBS To E!

This is an end of an era. E! has acquired People’s Choice Awards, a CBS staple which had aired on the eye network since its 1975 launch, with Mark Burnett producing for the past eight years. Going forward, E! will be the exclusive home of the annual award show voted on by fans, in addition to taking over People’s Choice Awards’ digital, social and voting platforms. E! will air the People’s Choice Awards starting in 2018 with its 44th annual installment to be produced by NBCUniversal’s Wilshire Studios, which also produces E!’s signature Live From The Red Carpet.

"Rooted in pop culture and celebrity, the People’s Choice Awards is a natural extension for E! and we are excited to evolve and supercharge this fan-centered event for the next generation in a way that only E! can,” said E! president Adam Stotsky. “Over two decades ago, E! created the red carpet experience and became the leading destination for fans on Hollywood’s biggest nights. With this acquisition, we are harnessing our entertainment authority, live event expertise and huge multi-platform reach to take fans beyond the red carpet and offer a true end to end consumer experience.”

People’s Choice Awards was originally created in 1975 by Robert Stivers. People’s Choice Awards was previously owned by Procter & Gamble. Once a formidable ratings force, the awards franchise’s numbers on CBS have been on the decline for the past few years. The most recent 2017 edition in January hit an all-time low in adults 18-49 with a 1.2 Live+Same Day rating, a tenth down from the previous low mark of 1.3 in 2016. The total viewership did tick up just a fraction, from just more than 6 million to 6.66 million.

Becky G & C. Tangana collab coming

[...] Staying in the heart of Hollywood, the entertainer talked with Billboard exclusively about his rise in music, why the U.S. market is key for him and why his upcoming single with Becky G was essential.
[...] The Becky G song pulsates through a series of tight beats to combine his raps and Becky G's vocal contributions that ultimately make for a sensual sound with hints of R&B.
"We know Becky G is Latina, but she also brings an American influence," Tangana says of his collaborator's appeal and the reason why he wanted to work with the occasional actress (Power Rangers).

Iggy collab with DJ Fresh coming

I have a really cool collaboration coming out with DJ Fresh that I’m excited about. We’re mixing a song and it’s me and DJ Fresh’s collaboration. It’s gonna be out in the summer. In a matter of weeks. I’m really excited ’cause he’s going to have a music video. Actually, we’ve been going back and forth with the treatments today between my interviews. But my collaboration with DJ Fresh has been years in the making. I’ll tell you that. Because that man has sent me beats and I’ll be like, “Oh, I don’t really like this one” or “not quite.”
Sometimes he’ll send me something and I’ll love it, and I’ll send back a verse and he’ll be like, “No, I don’t love the verse. I’ll pass.” We have tried to collaborate like four or five times, once a year or once every two years since probably about 2013, he has sent me something. Then finally he sent me this song, and I was like, “Yes, this is the one.” So I wrote my verse and he liked this one and it worked out. I think it’s coming out in August.
I’m really excited for that. I really like the music DJ Fresh makes. I like the EDM sound still and I always will like those electronic elements. I think it’s good for me to collaborate with him, because it gives me a chance to go back into that world without it having to be on my project. It gives me the freedom to keep things very rap heavy and aggressive on my own project, but do something still in that other lane that I like so much.

Drake's Scorpion Stays One More Week at N.1 in USA

For a fifth straight week, Drake’s Scorpion rules the Billboard 200 albums chart. The set continues at No. 1, earning 145,000 equivalent album units (down 21 percent) in the week ending Aug. 2, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, just 12,000 were in traditional sales, as the album continues to be overwhelmingly powered by streaming activity.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units are comprised of traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Aug. 11-dated chart (where Scorpion spends a fifth week at No. 1) will be posted in full on Billboard's websites on Tuesday, Aug. 7.
Of Scorpion’s total of 145,000 units earned in the latest tracking week, 123,000 were in SEA units (translating to 169.6 million on-demand audio streams), 11,000 were in TEA units and 12,000 were in traditional album sales.
